All Is Not Grim, SendWordNow Raises $14M

If you haven’t heard of SendWordNow.com, then you better sit down and listen (read might be more like it). The service will allow you to send out mass alerts, making it easier for you to spread the word on anything that might be going on with your company or organization.

For example, Tufts University hired the site to set up an alert system, allowing the university to warn its students if something like the Virginia Tech shootings were to happen there. According to Forbes, the company has other major costumers, including Wal-Mart and the U.S. Postal Service.

Now that you have a clear idea of what SendWordNow.com does, you’ll be more than happy to know that they’ve raised $14 million in a fourth round of founding. I just read some posts on this blog about the economy affecting startups, so it’s really good to see a company that managed to raise major funding.

I think that this site stands as the perfect example of what having a useful concept can do for your startup. This is really useful, thus people use it. They’ve gotten major costumers, all due to the fact that the service they provide is actually useful. There’s something for everyone to learn from these guys who are bent on alerting everyone.
