NewsLaunchCapital Gives Us Clues Into What VCs are Looking For
A while back, we had a chat with LaunchCapital’s managing director Elon Boms. He talked about the future of investing, and how there seems to be a grey line between angel investing and entry level VC funding.
LaunchCapital has already invested in some great companies, and they keep at it. They recently sent over a list of new companies that they have added to their already impressive portfolio, and they serve as a good example as to what VC firms are looking for in startups.
Here they are:
• Vigix - Developers of next-generation vending machines. These are particularly interesting, as they have no moving parts and should allow for a cheaper assembly process.
• iTeam - This startup turns IT service into a whole product, which is easy to sell and allows buyers to take care of all their IT needs at once.
• FMP Products - They make laboratory automation equipment and software, all aimed at improving the productivity of researchers.
• SafePorch - This one is very interesting. They make storm shelters for people who live in hurricane-prone areas of the United States.
• Helix - As the name implies, they work with DNA therapeutic products that could change the way we all treat diseases.
These startups prove that in order to get funding, you need to be on the forefront of necessity. What do people buy? What they need, nothing more, and especially now that money is tight. You need to find a void and fill it with your product.
